For the most part of my journey, treatment was always steroid shots. It wasn't anything else other other than that when I was younger and that was the only treatment, and there weren't any barriers to it. Like, they would say, you have alopecia, like I said, and you get steroid shots and you would go every two weeks, or however often, to get them, and sometimes your hair would grow back, sometimes your hair wouldn't grow back, sometimes, you know, you would get more spots and all these things, like, it was a tossup of if the medication will work or not. And also then there was another doctor that I started to go to and he would come up with like different medication that I could try.
And there was some medication, but it wasn't, like I said, the lack of knowledge of understanding, like, what are the, like, has this medication worked before? Like, what it actually is. I feel like it's not a lot shared, it feels like, this is the only thing for you, so you just take it. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it's not like I'm comparing and contrasting it against anything else, and I just recently had this same experience when I got the cyst checked out in New York with a doctor and he brought up one, I'm not interested in treatment at this point in my life, but I asked him like, what treatments are available, and he brought up one medication and that's it. This is what patients are using, you know, you can see if it works, but, you know, it might not, and it is what it is. So I think that just like knowledge sharing, comparing and contrasting of like what other alternative medications or whether it maybe holistically or maybe like, you know, whatever it might be, just like a full service understanding of like what it is that you're putting in your body, and, you know, what other things exist in the marketplace that could potentially help or other things that you could potentially look into that they might not have, like, just a lot more knowledge sharing I feel like would be helpful.
