Do you regularly incorporate Very Brief Advice (VBA) for Tobacco Dependency into your patient consultations? VBA is an effective way to instigate a conversation about the options that are available to support a patient who would like to try and quit smoking. 

In this module, you will be asked to watch a short video demonstrating how VBA may be delivered in a typical consultation with a patient who smokes. You will then be asked a series of questions based on what you have seen and your existing knowledge of VBA.

Put your knowledge of the extensive health benefits of smoking cessation to the test. A good understanding of these can be very useful when supporting a patient who is attempting to quit.

The purpose of this interactive module is to help you better understand the health consequences that have been causally linked to smoking tobacco. This information can be used in discussions with patients to highlight the benefits of quitting that might be important to them or that they are not aware of. 

The module consists of a brief recap of the individual benefits to health that are associated with smoking cessation, followed by a series of questions to test your knowledge of this topic.

Section 3: Effective evidence-based interventions

The most effective strategy to stop smoking is a combination of pharmacotherapy and support. In this module, test your knowledge of the tools available to aid your patient’s quit attempt.

Are you aware of the numerous pharmacotherapeutic options available to support patients who are attempting to quit smoking?  

This module provides a brief summary of the various forms of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and prescription drugs that can be used to increase a patient’s chances of successfully overcoming tobacco dependency. You will then be asked a short series of questions designed to test your knowledge of this topic.
